The Weekend of Blinding Lights

"I heard a little girl
And what she said was something beautiful
To give your love no matter what
Is what she said"

Jaded, disillusioned, consumed with doubt, i walked into the door to greet my brother and his family. It was the weekend of lights, it was the answer to the ever darkening cloud growing in my heart.

She walked by me, allowing for not more than a glance in my direction. It was hope. There she was, beautiful in her simplicity, in the way she talked, in the way she walked, it must have been a dream. A 10 digit number and a name on the tip of my tongue being the only proof that she ever existed.

My phone keeps beeping out messages. Are they watching? My happiness is paradoxical at best, alternating between jubilation and doubt.

Words always help, a voice behind the face, a reassuring gentle caress. Relaxes my mind. It's about time i had something good in my life.

Next stop. The city of Kings.
