These days (April end) I am up at 4 am often staring up at the night sky. And each time, I can only keep staring. Because at 4am you can see, the milky way.
The milky way. Why is our galaxy named that ? Because of this singular visual that we can see. At 4am on an april night.
Sagittarius.
As a child I have always known the constellation of scorpio, since the day my dad showed it to me for the first time, it has always been one of the most recognizable shapes for me in the night sky.
An umbrella shaped beast, is scorpio. Through my life, I have always recognized, and looked for scorpio in the night sky.
But these days, at 4am, I am distracted by something else. Just east of scorpio, there is always a cloud. A dim white cloud that stretches north to south across the sky. If you didn't know what it was, you would probably ignore it.
That my friends, is not a cloud. That is the milky way. Staring into sagittarius, looking towards the center of the galaxy. The number of stars is mind numbing. So many, that you cant tell one from the other. That they merge into one large cloud, until you try to discern them individually.
Everyone should spend 10 mins of their lives staring into this full nothingness. Thus, is philosophy born.
These images show scorpio, and the milky way behind it. Of course the visual from bombay is not as beautiful, but still clear enough.
